Somewhere over the Rainbow

Absolutely dying over the new fall colors for the No.6 clog boots. I wish my closet looked like this. Since I can only pick one color (or two..or three), I would have to say the rust is my favorite, followed by the honey and the ash grey. Really though, they are all nice. I wonder if No.6 will be keeping the lace-up boot from Fall 2010 as well? I'd love for them to do an ankle height version of the lace-up boot. And in forest green leather maybe. That would be my dream...

Mulberry's Polly

I must admit that my friend Marti of A NYer in PDX takes the credit for turning me onto this bag as she has been talking about it for a good long while. It recently became available on Mulberry's online shop and, upon seeing the pictures, totally fell in love with it. It is much bigger than I thought, so more of an everyday bag, and the contrast color of the handle and strap in the midnight color is so seventies vintage--it would add great style to even the simplest of outfits. Also the bag seems extremely versatile and able to work equally well in summer and winter.

Doubtful that I could afford the $1300 price tag right now...but one can dream.... Or there is something to be said for finding something similar at a vintage store (but not nearly as nice...)

The other colors - conker (?) and pumpkin are nice too, as is the mini version which at $1050 isn't that much more affordable.

APC bedding

A French designer by the name of Elodie Laleous has access to the fabric archives of APC and sells the fabric along with some pre-made items like duvets, pillows, blankets and even a child's playmat on her website for her Paris-based boutique Lab. She uses Liberty florals to complement the classic plaids and checks. The final product is beautiful and definitely on my wishlist for my new home, especially the yellow lambswool blanket.

There are also some foam "cubes" designed to function as little child seats or floor pillows.

I learned about Elodie and her cool designs on Remodelista.

Sandal competition

After looking for months for a cute and wearable sandal, I think I found it today: the Quelques Shoes de Plus suede flat wrap sandal available at No6 for $245. Now I just need to decide which color....
Runners-up in the sandal competition were:

the Quorra sandal from J.Crew $150 in mink

the Kork-Ease Ava sandal available at Urban $135

Belle by Sigerson Morrison gold twist sandal $240 at endless.com

6 by No 6 at Urban

Following in the path of others, No6 is doing a small line for Urban under the name "6 by No 6". The only dress in the collection is this cute all silk number available in red or black at the bargain price of $79. I am hoping my local Urban has it in stock so I can try it on. There are a few other nice items in the collaboration as well:
An interesting (although a little weird) lace bodysuit and some cute cutout oxfords.

coffee bars

Today was a day for sitting and enjoying. Found myself missing NYC while looking at a slideshow of the best coffee bars on Refinery29.

And, by the way...
Welcome to persimmon's new home on blogger!

steven alan summer dresses

sometimes i find Steven Alan stuff a little too boring or maybe because in NYC it's so ubiquitous, a veritable uniform for some. i have a few pieces but have never been a big fan. well for summer there are quite a few fun, flirty dresses on their site that are rather affordable compared with everything else I've have my eye on (uh, like Isabel Marant).

Petiole Dress - $195

I'm obsessed with navy right now. anything in navy looks so fresh, especially worn with black. The petiole dress would look great with a simple black cardigan and black Worishofer slingbacks.

Fairchild Dress - $248

This print is amazing. Busy and colorful without being too much. The silhouette comes in solid colors also and doesn't look nearly as good as in this fun paisley.

Gaby Dress - $248

Loving the one-shoulder, especially because EVERYONE is doing stripes. And yeah they are great but it's nice to see them refreshed.

Spring Vivian Dress - $298

I love the scoopneck on this dress and the print that looks like it belongs on a tie. The vivian dress also comes in a bright orange, which with the right accessories (and right skin tone) could look amazing.
