Alexa Chung for Madewell - my order

So after the Madewell site crashed Wednesday night, I thought I'd skip the latest Alexa Chung collaboration but then I reconsidered the following morning when I spied the "ugly" cardigan and the hamish tartan wrap. I might end up returning quite a bit of it but thought some items were too cute to pass up. I'm still considering the Carine dress but at $265, I'd rather try it on when I'm in Seattle next week.

the "Ugly" cardigan - I love this one!

gold Patrice top - on the fence about this one

ACNE SS12 - London Fashion Week

Acne Spring/Summer 2012 really looks great. I would think it was an old Helmut Lang show if I didn't know who it was. Vogue thought so too.

And ombre hair is apparently here to stay.

No6 and their fall clogs

My favorites from the new line are the pony-hair laceup boot, the two-tone shearling laceup with kiltie flap and the new PESTO color in everything.

They did a lot of "blanket" pieces, boots with Pendleton blanket -looking wool inserts. While I think this is a great look, already living in Oregon, I am sort of maxed on the whole blanket thing. If I still lived in New York, I would definitely go for it. The laceup is super cute.

Sofia Coppola: wedding style

One of my favorite style icons got married over the weekend. She chose Azzedine Alaia to design her wedding dress (as well as daughter Romy's), a surprising choice considering her long-running friendship and many fashion collaborations with Marc Jacobs. Have to say though, the lavender dress is beautiful and I love that she went the non-traditional route and embraced a "party-dress" silhouette with the short, poufy skirt. The black ankle strap sandals she paired it with are simple yet perfectly complement the girliness of the dress.

She had some amazing beach and shopping looks as well. Love the black strapless one-piece and the white cross-body handbag, and how she wears it with a white dress.

paper bag clutch

I saw this bag a few weeks ago over on Simple Blueprint. It's by LA-based designer Marie Turnor and constructed of super soft leather with a magnetic closure. It strikes me as something a little bit kitschy but chic at the same time. It's called "the picnic" and also comes in a few metallic colors and a lipstick red.

The picnic is only $175 or there is a larger more traditionally-shaped clutch style called "the dinner" that is $240. All are available to buy on Marie Turnor's website.

Dixie Boots - Fall Isabel Marant

Isabel Marant's new Dixie boot is a low-heel version of the incessantly coveted Dicker boots. To me, they are more like a beatle boot and less of a cowboy boot. Regardless, they are at the very top of my fall wishlist. The taupe is pictured but they also come in black. I'm sure all the usual places will have them: Stuart & Wright in Brooklyn, Creatures of Comfort and of course Odessa in Portland. At $615, they are not for the faint of heart.
