Kate Moss looking amazing in her sunnies at PFW

It must be said that Kate Moss looks fantastic. I mean, really! Young, fresh and love the shorter hair and the tan, courtesy of the French Riviera. Here she was with husband Jamie at the Saint Laurent show at Paris Fashion Week in a sexy, simple black number with to-die-for booties. All new Saint Laurent, I assume.

And I am truly coveting her sunglasses, seen her at Stella McCartney while sitting between Mario Testino and Sir Paul McCartney. After some internet sleuthing, I discovered they are by Brit brand Prism. I wasn't able to find the exact style on their site. Perhaps something new? Nevertheless, they are cat eye, a trend that's been around, but I haven't seen anyone else in quite so oversized a silhouette and then the white tortoise print is simply stunning!

UPDATE: My friend Marti thinks her *happy* glow is because she is pregnant. Hmmm... I thought it worth mentioning.

House of style: was seriously my favorite thing ever

I used to have multiple VHS tapes with episodes of MTV's House of Style on them. My favorite episode featured Kate Moss as a cherubic teenager debuting in the fashion industry. After just watching the documentary on MTV that came out a couple days ago, I realized that I had more than a couple segments memorized: Naomi Campbell and her zit cream, John Galliano's first runway show, and Duran Duran shopping at Sears.

Of course, more apparent were the perennial episodes not even mentioned! Liv Tyler back to school shopping and my favorite Kate Moss show in which she says that all she wants later in life is "babies, lots of babies" and how she didn't get to know Marky Mark when they did the Calvin ad together because "he had his posse there." They also failed to mentioned the entire grunge trend and how Marc Jacobs launched that with his line for Perry Ellis in 1993. And how the thrift shopping wasn't house of style being deferential to their midwestern audience's budget but had more to do with grunge. And that to find that grunge look, you had to go to a thrift store. Thrifting was the trend.
How funny that Sofia Coppola looks like she hasn't aged a day, not even one day. No fair.

Not sure what the "new" house of style will bring. I would like to like it but I am skeptical. Now I am waiting for a revival of the "FT" Fashion Television show on CNN that I also used to record on VHS.

Kate Moss and her dream

I've got to give it to Kate. After Johnny and all the others, she really waited for the right one. And as much as I loved her Galliano wedding gown (the beeding, the fringe, the veil), this vintage dress that she wore to her "pre-wedding" fete is so unique and ultimately exemplifies exactly what makes her Kate Moss. Congrats, Mr and Mrs Hince.

What is there to say? It's amazing to me that these are paparazzi shots and not from the pages of a real fashion spread. Sorry but it's the rare celebrity that can pull this off, supermodel or not. And she really makes me want to wear my vintage fur every day. And i heart the bag. Also definitely a vintage piece.

(And sorry for the lack of posting. My house is finally done so I'll be posting more. This spring feels like one of the better s/s seasons in a while...)

white with black

As spring is right around the corner (for some) a nice segue into the season is with a bold white statement piece on top of a black outfit. Kate rocks an amazing white blazer here with a head-to-toe black look during a morning-after meal in Paris.

This ultra white Acne cardigan works really well as a statement making outfit focal point and its oversize feeling and contrast buttons add a little something extra. It's part of their new Spring line, which if you haven't seen it, you really need to check it out. So far I think they have the best collection for Spring, I want about 20 pieces for sure including jeans and leggings but also tops, dresses, coats and cardigans. I know I already posted about it so I'll wait till later on to post more pictures (also I think they are still getting more stuff) but meanwhile check it out on their site but also at Creatures of Comfort.

old school Moss

Before Topshop and Pete Doherty, she was just Kate. The original waif who had amazing style even then, not that anyone noticed. Her haircolor in these shots is her real mousy blond-brown and the style is straight-up early 90s grunge. The outfit while shopping in Camdentown market is also very grunge but still very Kate: loose turtleneck, black wool overcoat and a chunky grey scarf woven around her neck and through her hair.

These pictures brought me back to when off-duty shots of models weren't the norm. And to when designers were designers instead of models as designers. Nevertheless, Kate always had style. Model or not.

black outfit, brown boots

something else i've started seeing lately (or maybe just started feeling) is the brown with black combination. a totally black outfit -- the kind that is de rigeur in New York or London -- black jeans, black or otherwise dark-colored top, black coat...and then historically it has always been paired with black shoes/boots or maybe grey or even dark brown. and then all of a sudden i am seeing brown boots, like TAWNY brown, combined with a head-to-toe black look. the contrast is startling yet very fresh.

I had been thinking the brown/black thing subconsciously. have even been wearing dark brown boots with black jeans myself, wondering why i kept doing it. and then saw the picture below online and the thought finally came to life.

and of course it's not a trend until you see Kate Moss sporting it.
