Kids Street Style: Ladys and Gents

I came across this new blog the other day, Ladys and Gents, that's being billed as the Sartorialist for the little tykes in our lives. At first, it seemed a little trite but after a while I really enjoyed seeing some of the pictures and even get the occasionally outfit inspiration from them! I know, sounds absurd but sometimes that happens occasionally anyway when I'm picking up my daughter from preschool. So, what's the difference really?

It's not unlike the streetstyle on the Milk magazine website (tres-hip French children's magazine) that I wrote about quite a while ago. This blog is put together by a couple of LA stylists and you can even submit photos to them. They don't publish the child's name (which I understand, but I was a little bummed out that they don't. Seeing their name would be very cute) but do list which brands they are wearing. Lots of Bonpoint, people. Almost as much as in the closet of Harper Beckham.

Steven Alan Kids

While trolling my usual sites this morning, I saw that Steven Alan has added more sizes to their simple and lovely kids' line. I bought an adorable blue check dress for my daughter when she was 1.5 but she has long since outgrown it. The Breaker dress is a simple yoke dress with flap sleeves that is available in the same beautiful prints and lush cotton fabrics as the adult-wear. The reverse seam shirt is the other style they are offering, also in several great plaids, print and in classic denim. I for one love the cut of this shirt, as I recently purchased one for myself in the grey chambray!

Both are very affordable for high-end children's clothes, considering they are made in the USA. The Breaker dress is $68 and the Reverse Seam shirt is $58. And they start from size 18 months and go up to a size 6 years. Available on their website.

Milk magazine - kids street style

I just discovered the "look de rue" street-style section on Milk magazine's website. Milk is a French magazine (with English text in the back) that is specifically a children's fashion magazine but has many other interesting things besides kids stuff. Their website is just as inventive. The only thing cuter than stylish kids - think Suri Cruise - is adorable stylish French kids walking the streets of Paris. I really like how all the kids are posing without actually looking like they are posing.

Stella kids!

After buying as much Stella McCartney for GapKids that I could get my hands on, I've been pretty bummed that the Spring collection was her last. Alas, she has answered my prayers. Stella McCartney kids launches November 3 online and in stores (her stores, I assume?) And, the BEST part - prices will be between $20 and $200. Check it out...

blogs I enjoy

Having a close connection to Scandinavia, I sometimes end up on different new sites or blogs that come from that world. So I thought I'd share a couple blogs I've come across that I've been really into of late.

Emma_normcopenhagen

emmas.blogg.se

The first is one of the top blogs in Sweden by a woman called Emma. I know almost nothing about her except that it's a pretty famous blog in Stockholm and she has many advertisers and sponsors. And she even has sponsored posts every so often. That said, it's an awesome blog to look at it for home design inspiration as well as for objets from the clean, "Scandi" world.

Simpleblueprint

Simple Blueprint

One of the other blogs I'm into is put together by a Swedish-American woman named Joanna Swanson who lives in Stockholm. Hers is more fashion and art inspiration as well as details about all the exotic locales she has traveled to and the fabulous hotels and resorts she has stayed at. She recently put together a city guide to Stockholm for design*sponge. Above is an image taken from her site of a hotel on Gotland in Sweden called Fabriken Furillen.

Brinja_food

And one of my absolute favorite blogs is by a woman named Brinja who lives in Copenhagen. She has a boutique in Copenhagen of the same name, I believe. And not only is she always posting pictures of these amazing meals she has had (see above) but she also just had a baby and is now posting pictures of her baby in the most adorable handmade clothes. Her main blog theme is a days-of-the-week outfits log where she highlights either different friends of hers in Copenhagen, other blogging friends or even her own baby! I also love seeing all the pictures of this miniature dollhouse version of her apartment that she has made by hand: she is uber-creative!

Vanessa Paradis is the face of the new Chanel Coco Rouge lipstick campaign. And this cover image jumped out at me the second I saw it. The color of her hair and shape of her eyebrows are flawless.

She also just has great style in general. I loved her look at the Chanel show during Paris Fashion Week. See below:

And looks great dressed down too running around with her kids.

sofia forever

Sofia

Sofia Coppola is another style icon of mine. Her movies are amazing, especially the underrated Marie-Antoinette. But her personal style is another thing entirely. While her red-carpet looks are fairly formulaic: almost always a little black dress, knee length with small, low black shoes and a small black clutch. Her casual day-to-day style is also very simple but extremely chic. And given that she's been living in Paris for the last several years, her style seems to be getting better and better

Unfortunately, since Sofia's not one for making headlines, it's rare to see a candid of her street-style. So imagine how happy I was to find this great Sofia blog today: oohsofia.blogspot.com. Below are a couple street shots of Sofia that showcase her daytime style (all from said blog).

I also learned some exciting personal and professional news about Sofia as well. She has a new movie coming out in 2010 that she wrote and directed called Somewhere starring Stephen Dorff (great casting choice!) AND, she is expecting another baby with Phoenix frontman and frenchman Thomas Mars. Congratulations, Sofia! Which brings to mind another thing about Sofia I love - her sparkling white wine available in the mini-cans. Yum!

Maybe she should be a lifestyle icon too. Do her own "GOOP". I'd be much more interested in her picks than Gwyneth Paltrow's.

liquid leggings - for KIDS!

Not to give too much credit to celebrities and their stylists but 3-year-old Suri Cruise tipped me off on this one. Liquid leggings have been in for a while now. Even becoming somewhat mainstream. Now they are available for the toddler set. And for only $25! So cute!

Realistically they are probably quite slippery for those still toddling around and definitely not the most breathable fabric. Very chic nonetheless.

Available here.
