Peacoats

A.P.C. Caban Court 70's Peacoat - $500 at Stuart and Wright

VS.

J.Crew Majesty Peacoat - $258 at jcrew.com
Long term, I'd be happier with the A.P.C. one for sure - better quality, classic fit, less pilling usually -- but the price is pretty steep for something so basic.  Also the J.Crew one comes in a rainbow of great colors, including a sunny yellow. I was in the market for just a plain navy one. Hoping for a sale to start soon on either one, which would make the decision much easier...

APC bedding

A French designer by the name of Elodie Laleous has access to the fabric archives of APC and sells the fabric along with some pre-made items like duvets, pillows, blankets and even a child's playmat on her website for her Paris-based boutique Lab. She uses Liberty florals to complement the classic plaids and checks. The final product is beautiful and definitely on my wishlist for my new home, especially the yellow lambswool blanket.

There are also some foam "cubes" designed to function as little child seats or floor pillows.

I learned about Elodie and her cool designs on Remodelista.

A.P.C. blog

Apc_preschoo

Apparently, APC has a blog. Check it out: APC Journal

Oh and btw, my dream is to send my daughter to the APC preschool in Paris. It's like Madeline with killer fashion. This is the taking of their class picture.

I just fell in love with this No6 dress from their spring rtw. Amazing. Would look really great with tan APC Madras gladiator sandals.

down puffers by Crescent Down Works

Apc_crescentdownworks_parka

I came across these great down jackets made by a small company out of Seattle called Crescent Down Works. The one above is part of a collaboration they did with APC for a simple down jacket but it is unfortunately available only in Japan. Then I found a men's store in LA called South Willard that is producing a line of jackets in collaboration with Crescent Down Works. If you have a spare $350, you should order one.

The quality is top-notch outerwear while the styling is very simple and pared-down, a true Pacific Northwest wilderness look. And they just got several of the better styles back in stock. Check it out on their website: South Willard. They also have a great blog too.

the ones that got away

i dream about these boots all the time. except in a light tan color. they are from APC FW07/08. suede boat shoes in an ankle boot version lined in shearling. to this day i cannot remember why i didn't buy them. they are so simple yet so awesome.

my first persimmon post

so after several months of thought, i am starting a blog.

it is called simply: persimmon. named after the color of my favorite scarf.

on this blog i will post things that catch my "eye" - so to speak. and by my eye, i mean things that have a great look, feel and total style about them. these items will probably be from fashion - apparel, accessories and (definitely) shoes. but they could also be furniture, a room, someone's house, a nice toaster, a great song, anything. it just has to have the right edge. so - here we go.
