the perfect sandal

I am completely in love with these Loeffler Randall sandals spotted on Barneys.com today. They are light grey leather with brass buttons. You can never go wrong with brass button detailing. It is always in style. Unfortunately this beautiful sandal - called the Audra - is $295.

Timeless pieces

I bought this jacket 10 years ago at Saks in NYC. It's a Marc by Marc light gray denim military jacket. I don't think a year has gone by where I haven't worn it at least 15 times. It is one of those timeless wardrobe staples that you don't anticipate when you buy them but realize soon after how much you are really going to where it. Year after year.

shoes glorious shoes

So Creatures of Comfort has their entire shoe assortment at 15% off (and dresses too I think). I looked the other night and spent almost an hour drooling. There are no less than 5 pairs of shoes I have my eye on. Take a look:

I love this color, sort of in between tan and beige. And the cut-out looks really great on the foot. I just hope the heel isn't too high for me (Yes, I'm a wimp when it comes to heels.) These are Rachel Comey and they are $325 (minus the current 15% off).

Also by Rachel Comey are these simple but really nice sandals. $288

Although clearly not for me, per se, these sandals are AMAZING. I am sure Nicole Richie already owns them (And Rachel Zoe for that matter.) They are $405, which isn't bad for such a statement shoe.

Rachel Comey also has some great brogue boots. I saw her line of men's boots at Frances May and was hoping, as I usually do, for the same masculine silhouettes in women's sizes. Brogue boots will probably be to Fall 10 what clog boots were to my Fall 09. But these are women's and are on sale at Creatures of Comfort for $380.

Speaking of men's, Common Projects has been doing great sneakers for men over the last several years. And I have picked up some in the past for the man in my life. And now - tada- they are doing women's, just in time for this masculine trend that's happening.

Creatures of Comfort has a great selection and these are my favorites:

Commonprojects_blkoxford

Black oxford. Unfortunately a canvas upper. Would've been great in leather. $426

Commonprojects_bootie

Stunning black leather zipper bootie. $414

Commonproj_laceupboot

Super-masculine lace-up boot in Navy. $472

I am also MAJORLY in love with these les Prairies de Paris boots in both colors.

Lespraries_whitebootie

Lespraries_blkbootie

Aren't they stunning? They look a little too much like many other boots in my closet but at $380, I am considering it. The black ones would probably become a wardrobe staple.

All shoes are available at Creatures of Comfort and are 15% off for a limited time.

Would like to buy one pair for myself. Any ideas as to which ones?

searching for the perfect pair of shades

I've been on the hunt for new sunglasses for over 8 months now. And since it is actually sunglasses season in stores, maybe it's time I actually decided on a pair. These are some of the current contenders as well as some that maybe wouldn't be perfect on me but are pretty cool anyway and perhaps the perfect pair for someone else (a reader of this blog, i dare say!)

These are Karen Walker Eyewear. First introduced in the Fall, they are available with the Spring collection as well. While being a strong shape, this silhouette is a little easier to wear now I think (Topshop has done a knock-off for Spring) as opposed to last Fall when it debuted. Still they definitely have to be tried on before purchased. They are called the Super Duper Strength and totokaelo was carrying them but I'm not sure if they have them this season. BUT making the decision even harder is that Karen Walker Eyewear has some pretty cool brand-new silhouettes for Spring:

Both equally as striking as the Super Duper Strength but probably a little more challenging as an everyday item. The round tortoise ones are really hot though. And on the right person would be killer. The second ones are called Number One and are available at totokaelo for $175. Also if anyone is on the lookout for cat-eye, since it is making a comeback this season in the sunglasses arena, Karen Walker has a really nice one called Trixie:

Not to make this all about Karen Walker, I have been perusing other, more classic sunglass-makers. You can never go wrong with Ray-Ban, especially the Wayfarer. I really like this new clear/black combo version of the iconic shade:

I have only seen them on Ray-Ban's own online site and not on sunglasshut.com. I have seen pictures of them on a certain celebrity (who will remain nameless) and they look MUCH better on than in this still-life shot. They are called Wayfarer II and are $145 with the regular non-polarized lens.

As much as I like these, I am feeling like the Wayfarer look is a little played-out or at least extremely ubiquitous. But I still think classic Ray-bans are a very win-win purchase right now. And that's why I am more interested in the Clubmaster:

Of course I say this not having tried them on. AND they have nose-pads which make it nearly impossible to put them up on your head (which is a necessity in my book). Nevertheless these are the current leader, other than an out-of-my-price-range pair of Persols:

Not in this color but in black. They are classic, well-made and have that great Persol visible hinge. But I don't think the search is over. It has to be continued...
